Norway

Visited in June 2026

Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe occupying the western and northern parts of the Scandinavian Peninsula, along with the Arctic territories of Jan Mayen and Svalbard. It became independent in 1905, with Oslo as its capital and largest city. Norway remained neutral during World War I and was occupied by Nazi Germany from 1940 to 1945 during World War II. Today, it is a constitutional monarchy led by a king and prime minister and is known for its high standard of living, strong welfare system, and resource-driven economy heavily supported by oil and gas.

During our 9-day trip to Norway, we visited Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, and Trondheim, experiencing a mix of vibrant cities, dramatic landscapes, and coastal charm. In Stavanger, we hiked to the iconic Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), where steep cliffs rise above the Lysefjord and offer one of Norway’s most spectacular viewpoints. We explored the country’s famous fjords, surrounded by towering mountains and deep blue waters, and spent time wandering through the colorful waterfront areas lined with traditional wooden houses. In Bergen, the historic Bryggen wharf stood out with its UNESCO-listed row of brightly painted timber buildings, while Trondheim also impressed with its charming old wooden architecture along the riverfront.
