Once an independent kingdom, Scotland united with England in 1707 to form Great Britain, eventually becoming part of the modern UK. Scotland occupies the northern third of Great Britain and is known for its dramatic landscapes, including the Highlands, lochs, glens, rugged mountains, and many islands. Scotland’s capital is Edinburgh, while its largest city is Glasgow.
We used the city of Glasgow as a base to explore some of Scotland’s most iconic sites.
