Idaho Falls sits along the banks of the Snake River. We spent a day in this beautiful city on our way to Yellowstone National Park. The West entrance to Yellowstone is a 2 hour (108 miles) drive from here.
Idaho Falls River Walk – We spent half a day taking a stroll along the Snake River with view of the falls from all angles. It is very peaceful and beautiful with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the breathtaking falls.

You can see an interesting white building as you walk along the snake river. The building is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Hell’s Half Acre – is a volcanic lava field located about 25 miles west of Idaho Falls. It is a significant geological feature, designated as a National Natural Landmark and a Wilderness Study Area. The lava flow, which erupted about 4,100 years ago, covers an area of about 400 km.
It is a bit hard to find this place as it has no Visitor’s center or signs. While driving on I-15 you will hit a Rest Area at mile marker 101. Walk behind the Rest Area and there are wide paved trails leading into Hell’s Half Acre. There are several benches and interpretative signs along the way, as well as picnic table near the rest area.
