Boise is the capital and most populous city of the state of Idaho. We drove to this city from Twin Falls, less than 2 hour (125 miles) drive up north. Downtown Boise is situated on Boise River and is the cultural center and home to many small businesses alongside a number of high-rise buildings. We visited the capital building in 2020.
Idaho Capital Building, Boise – Construction of the first portion of the new state capitol building began in the summer of 1905, fifteen years after 43rd statehood. The final cost of the building was just over $2 million; it was completed fifteen years later in 1920. The architects used varied materials to construct the building and their design was inspired by Classical style of architecture of Ancient Rome and Greece. Its sandstone exterior is dug and cut from the state-owned quarry at nearby Table Rock.

We visited the capital building during COVID times in Oct 2020. There was nobody in the building and hence no guided tours. My husband and I had the building to ourselves for the first 20 minutes before a security guard came in to ask if we needed anything.
