We visited a few places near Banff downtown area. Our first stop was Cascade falls on cascade mountain, which can be seen from the highway as you approach and is right next to the exit. We decided to hike up a bit to get closer to the waterfalls and found the path to be a bit steep, slippery because of the pebbles and more importantly mosquitoes! Be prepared to be bitten by mosquitoes while hiking anywhere in Banff. We were fortunately prepared with mosquito repellants. It would also be a good idea to wear full pants while hiking.
Two Jack Lake – Spent some time here admiring this picturesque emerald green lake in Banff National Park with a sweeping view of Mount Rundle
Banff Downtown – The pathway along the turquoise blue Bow River is a great place to walk and to capture a few amazing views. There is also a little park with a cute Gazebo along the pathway. You can get a great view of the Cascade mountains as you walk around in downtown Banff.
We ended day 1 with dinner at a wonderful Italian restaurant in Banff downtown.
