Travelling is my happy place. I, along with my husband, started travelling often after we became empty nesters in 2014. I would post a lot of pictures and details of my travel on Facebook. My friends and my kids kept pushing me to start a travel blog. I finally took their advice and started blogging my travels in July, 2023.
Most of our travels are planned by me, which I love to do. Once we decide on the location, I do a lot of research online to decide on where to stay, sights to see, most efficient way to see all the sights, vegetarian food availability etc. I should add that we have found vegetarian options in all the places we have visited so far.
During the pandemic when it was not easy enough to travel to other countries, we started visiting every state within USA. I have always wanted to experience the landscapes and history of each state in United States. Visiting a state meant spending at least 2-3 days there, exploring a couple of towns, walking the riverfront, visiting the capitol building, enjoying the state’s National Parks, waterfalls, volcanoes, canyons etc. As of July 2023, we completed visiting all the 50 states in USA, North Dakota being the last one.
Travel Ambassadors at the visitor’s center in Fargo, North Dakota noticed a trend in travelers looking to travel all 50 states in United States. North Dakota was often the last to be checked off their list. So, from what one might say is an embarrassing fact, the Best for Last Club was born. They ask you to purposely “save” your visit to North Dakota for last to be part of the Best for Last Club. At the reception of the visitor’s center, we mentioned that we had visited all the 50 states with North Dakota being the last one. We were given a T-Shirt and a certificate and got some picture taken wearing the T-shirt.

Before I moved to USA – I grew up in India. The first few years of my life was spent in Bengaluru, the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. My family then moved to Hyderabad in 1971. I did the rest of my school and college in Hyderabad which was then the capitol of the state of Andhra Pradesh. We moved to Pittsburgh, USA in 1992 and have lived here since.
