Alaska is one of the two non-contiguous U.S. states (along with Hawaii) and is located in the northwest extremity of North America. Some facts about Alaska include –
- It is the largest U.S. state by area and has the lowest population density in the nation
- It is home to Denali, the tallest peak in North America.
- Has more volcanoes than Hawaii, with 90 considered active.
- Has more active glaciers and ice fields than the rest of the inhabited world combined.
- Capitol – Juneau
- Admitted to the Union – January 3, 1959 (49th State)
