Alabama is a state in the southeastern region of the United States and is nicknamed the Yellowhammer state after the state bird. Alabama is also known as the Cotton State and the Heart of Dixie. Dixie is a nickname for the Deep South states like Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas etc. that seceded during the American Civil War.
