Idaho

Located in the Pacific Northwest of United States, Idaho was admitted to the Union on July 3, 1890, becoming the 43rd state. Boise is its capital city and it has a couple of Nicknames:

  • The Gem State – Named for its diverse and abundant mineral deposits, including various types of gemstones, like star garnets, amethysts, rubies, and diamonds.
  • The Potato State – Idaho’s agricultural sector supplies many products, but the state is best known for its potato crop, which comprises around one-third of the nationwide yield.

We visited this state for the first time in 2017 when we had to fly into Idaho Falls – one of the airports near Yellowstone National Park. We spent a day at Idaho Falls before embarking on our trip to Yellowstone. Our next visit to the state was in 2020 when we spent a couple of days visiting Twin Falls and Boise.
