Located in the Pacific Northwest of United States, Idaho was admitted to the Union on July 3, 1890, becoming the 43rd state. Boise is its capital city and it has a couple of Nicknames:
- The Gem State – Named for its diverse and abundant mineral deposits, including various types of gemstones, like star garnets, amethysts, rubies, and diamonds.
- The Potato State – Idaho’s agricultural sector supplies many products, but the state is best known for its potato crop, which comprises around one-third of the nationwide yield.
We visited this state for the first time in 2017 when we had to fly into Idaho Falls – one of the airports near Yellowstone National Park. We spent a day at Idaho Falls before embarking on our trip to Yellowstone. Our next visit to the state was in 2020 when we spent a couple of days visiting Twin Falls and Boise.
